My secret ingredient for happiness and professional growth

It’s not taking cold plunges or waking up at 5 am daily.

It’s not drinking lots of water, exercising daily, or meditating.

It’s not spending more time with your family and friends.

It’s not therapy.

Or, at least, it’s not any of those things individually.

But it is the thing that enables me to build the best habits I can (and get rid of the bad ones), monitor my progress, and constantly push myself despite any mood swings, procrastination waves, or crippling doubt.

I call it… Well, we call it a Mastermind. Which is just a short way to say it’s a peer-to-peer mentoring group.

We’re four guys with the same goal: to learn how to live our best possible lives. Every week we sit down for an hour to share our learnings, wins, and frustrations along the way so we can piggyback on each other’s successes. More than that, we actively listen and give feedback to one another all the time with the sole purpose of helping us see our shortcomings and make tough decisions.

The inspiration came from this article, by the way: The Elephants. A system for better living. | by Nick Crocker. We just tweaked the format to our liking.

So if I manage to build a much more intentional life, with at least 10x healthier habits, more time for leisure and learning, and diversify my income streams from two to five as well as my income in just under three years – it’s definitely because of the support I got from this group.

Two of them will be here next week for a week-long road trip with me, which is pretty damm cool!

So, if you have any questions about our Mastermind, just reply to this email (there are no dumb questions). I’ll share the answers in the next edition of this newsletter.

Make your headlines 10x more compelling with this simple branding tip

Since I started publishing content consistently, I’ve noticed that I like recording videos instead of just writing. I then noticed that the feedback from people also seemed more positive.

So I’m slowly writing and planning content like the one below. It’s also about a topic I don’t discuss much, so I look forward to your feedback. Please leave it as a comment on the video if you can 😉

🧠 Reads to sharpen your mind

The Cost of Acquisition Trap: yet another gem from Elena Verna. It’s funny that I was doing my first payback calculations for Easy App Reports when this came out. When I shared my analysis with a friend, he mentioned this article, which was kind of funny.

How we made $120,260 in 3 weeks of launching our SaaS: nice inspirational story from UserMaven and how they built their SaaS and launched it via AppSumo.

How To Get Ahead Of 99% Of People (In 6-12 Months): I really like Dan’s videos. Although long, I find it very inspiring and actionable. In this video, he talks about the importance of having anti-vision in combination with your goals to push your life forward.

📕 Quote from the book The Great CEO Within, by Matt Mochary

When asking for feedback about himself as a manager, Lachy Groom of Stripe asks, “What feedback are you afraid to give because you think it might hurt my feelings? Please tell me that.”

I love this approach, and I’ve done it myself even before I read this book.

🛠️ Tools I’ve been using: Colossyan

My goal with Colossyan is to create a couple of demos for Easy App Reports so customers can better understand what our product does. If it goes well, there are many tutorials I’d like to build using this solution.

But why am I looking into this stuff?

Firstly, I want to be able to delegate at least part of the work. Secondly, having an employee’s face there might be tricky in the long run. Then there’s also the recording itself which is a rabbit hole itself. Let’s see how it goes. I’ll share the video here if I’m happy with the result 😉
